What is Hydrogen Rich Water
Hydrogen-rich water (HRW), aka hydrogenated water, aka alkalized water, aka naturally high pH water, is regular drinking water that has been ionized through electrolysis. It’s gaining attention as a potential health-promoting beverage due to the antioxidant properties of hydrogen.
Alkalized Water vs Alkaline Water with High pH
Alkalized water (high pH) or hydrogen rich water created using hydrolysis (not chemicals) is the preferred method, whereas raising the pH using chemicals (caustic soda or bicarb soda) defeats the purpose of removing chemicals to create a pure natural water with improved properties.
What are the Antioxidant Properties of Hydrogen Rich Water
Hydrogen-rich water (HRW) exhibits antioxidant properties by neutralizing harmful free radicals and reducing oxidative stress, potentially offering benefits like decreased inflammation and improved cellular hydration.

How is it made
Electrolysis, using electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, is a method to generate hydrogen-rich water, where hydrogen is infused into the water, and the oxygen is removed.
In simple terms
Imagine a glass of water with a membrane inserted across the inside of the glass, separating the water into two sections. Inserting an anode (positive electrode) in one side produces oxidation, whereas inserting a cathode (negative electrode) in the other side, reduces oxidation.
To create hydrogen rich water, a cathode (negative electrode) is inserted to reduce oxygen on one side of the glass and thereby increase hydrogen on the other side of the membrane. The flow of electrons (current) reduces oxidation, making it simple to extract the hydrogen rich water from the other side of the glass. By pouring off the oxidised water, (acidic water – low pH water) it can be used for cleaning purposes without chemicals and there is no waste, while the remaining hydrogen rich water is available to drink.

In Summary
The difference between alkaline water and alkalized water is huge! Alkaline water is simply high pH water created by adding chemicals, while alkalized water is pure water that has passed through an electrolysis process where the oxygen is removed, leaving hydrogen (H+) in the water. The alkalized water offering health benefits not available from alkaline water.
